Monroe County Girls Sports Festival scheduled
The Monroe County Sports Development Corporation will host the fourth Annual Monroe County Girls Sports Festival, on Saturday, August 4 at Frontier Field from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The annual festival, presented by Outback Steakhouse, is a one-day event for girls between the ages of eight and 14. Participants are able to experience sports in a non-competitive atmosphere. No experience is necessary. Registration forms are available by calling 262-3832.
Girls can participate in five out of the 16 sports that have been selected for this year's festival: basketball, boxing, dance, fencing, football, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, splattball, Tae Kwon Do, tennis, ultimate frisbee, and volleyball.
All sports clinics will be conducted by teams and/or organizations from the Rochester area. Some of the organizations participating this year include: Rochester Fencing Centre, Rhinos Rage, Rochester Brigade, Rochester Susan B's, Mid-Town Athletic Club, Greater Rochester Area Disc Association, Hot Shots Volleyball Club, YMCA, Flower City Soccer, G&T Unified Tae Kwon Do, Gymnastics Training Center of Rochester, the Genesee Valley Golf Course and other local volunteers.
The Monroe County Girls Sports Festival is hosted by the Monroe County Sports Development Corporation whose goal is to provide youth with a positive influence through sports participation. The festival is also supported by Monroe County through the Rochester/Monroe County Youth Bureau.
