Amadeus Chorale makes patriotic tour
The Amadeus Chorale recently returned from a five-day tour of the Baltimore-Washington area. The singing group, consisting of young men and women in grades seven through twelve, had the opportunity to perform in many venues for a variety of audiences.
On July 4, Peter Jennings presented a story on the American Flag on "ABC World News Tonight." The Amadeus Chorale was taped singing "The Star Spangled Banner" at Fort McHenry, the birthplace of the National Anthem. ABC used the Amadeus Chorale's rendition of the National Anthem throughout the televised piece.
Another highlight of the tour was the performance at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. The Chorale performed the 20-minute Prelude to the Independence Day Week-End Mass on Sunday, July 1.
Other tour performances included concerts at Harbor Place in Baltimore, Maryland and Willow Valley Retirement Village in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Directed by Darla Bair, the Amadeus Chorale consists of five choirs, three of which participated in this tour. They have recorded two CD's and have given numerous performances locally.
