Chili Fire Department welcomes three new members
The Chili Fire Department welcomed three new members this past month. Ben Evans, who resides on Orangetree Circle, will be volunteering as a firefighter at Company #1; Jeremy Sibbald, who resides on Chestnut Ridge Road, will be volunteering as a firefighter at Company #3; and Liz Bachmann, who resides on Adela Circle, will be volunteering on the Rescue/Ambulance Squad at Company #1.
Evans and Sibbald will be attending the Firefighter 2000 training course offered by Monroe County which will provide basic fire fighting training for new members. Bachmann already has completed her Certified First Responder Certification which enables her to be a 2nd medic on the Rescue/Ambulance Squad.
Both Sibbald and Bachmann are following a family tradition of volunteering in the emergency services. Evans and his brother, Josh, are third generation volunteers with Chili. Their parents, John and Debbie Sibbald, also of Chestnut Ridge Road, are also volunteers with Chili. John is a firefighter at Company #3 and Debbie volunteers with the Ladies Auxiliary. Grandfather, John Sibbald Sr., was a volunteer firefighter for Company #3 for over 30 years.
Liz Bachmann is a second generation volunteer. Her parents, Bill and Celia, are active volunteers as well. Bill is a firefighter at Company #3 and also volunteers on the Rescue/Ambulance Squad. Celia is a volunteer on the Rescue/Ambulance Squad. Katherine Bachmann is a new volunteer with the Explorer program of the Chili Fire Department and also volunteers with the Civil Air Patrol.
The Chili Fire Department and Ambulance is in need of volunteers. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can call 889-2873 or visit our website at www.chilifire.org.
