State Fair advance tickets go on sale
Don't miss out on the opportunity to explore exhibits and discover top name entertainment, performers and family fun at the 2001 New York State Fair in Syracuse. Discount $4 fair admission tickets are available at hundreds of outlets throughout New York state. The reduced price tickets are a $4 savings off the regular $8 admission price. The discount program runs through and includes August 22 - the day before the 2001 Fair begins. The 155th fair will run August 23 through September 3.
Tickets can also be obtained at the Fair ticket office, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or by writing to the Fair at: 581 State Fair Boulevard, Syracuse 13209. Also, for the first time, tickets can be purchased on-line at ticketmaster.com or at www.nysfair.org visitor center.
Through the internet, advance sale tickets will cost $4.50, the midway books $10 plus a $2 per order fee for mailing and processing. Again this year children 12 and under will be admitted free every day. Seniors 60 and over can enter free of charge on August 27 and August 28, while students 16 and under are free on August 31.
Free daily attractions will fill the grounds and top name entertainment is scheduled at Cole Muffler Court. Appearing at Cole Muffler Court will be Patty Loveless, KC & The Sunshine Band, Brad Paisley, The Four Aces & The Four Lads with the Stan Colella New York State Fair Orchestra, Mary Wilson of the Supremes and the Fifth Dimension, Gaelforce Dance, a Drum and Bugle Corps in the Court concert, Johnny Rivers and Ronnie Milsap, and The Charlie Daniels Band.
More free attractions include a Sea Lion Show, Live Shark Show, Coronas Circus, Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, Super Scientific Circus, World Class Sports and Thrill Show, the Mapapa Acrobats, numerous strolling performers, exhibits and displays - all in addition to the many agricultural competitions.
The grounds open daily at 8 a.m. with the buildings open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. except for Labor Day, September 3, when they will close at 9 p.m. The James E. Strates Midway is open until midnight. Parking is $4 everyday.
