Brette Morningstar, daughter of Mark and Cathy Morningstar of Palm Harbor, Florida, formerly of Town Pump Circle in Ogden, and Flamingo Drive in Gates, competed in the National Talent Competition at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, July 19, 2001. Singers and dancers from around the country attended the three-day event. She won a Gold medal and trophy taking 4th place overall in the Junior Vocal Competition.
Meghan Ryan, of Spencerport, has graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh with a bachelor of arts degree in French language and Canadian studies. She spent the spring 2001 semester as an intern with the Canadian consulate in Boston. During the fall 2000 and spring 2001 semesters, Ryan was on the dean's list. Starting in the fall, she will be studying towards an advanced degree in French translation in Montreal.
Lisa Waldman, a junior majoring in nursing at the University of Rochester, has been named to the dean's list for academic achievement for the spring 2001 semester. Waldman is a graduate of Brockport High School.
Emily Sotherden, a junior majoring in music education - general and vocal at the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester, has been named to the director's list for academic achievement for the spring 2001 semester. To be eligible for the director's list, a student must be enrolled full time, be in the top 25 percent of his or her class, and have no missing or incomplete grades. Sotherden, a graduate of Spencerport High School, is a resident of Brockport.

Shealyn R. Stenglein, daughter of William and Denise Stenglein of Churchville, was recently named a 2000-2001 Alden Scholar at Allegheny College. Alden Scholar awards are presented to students who maintained a grade point average of 3.2 or higher during the preceding academic year. Stenglein, a graduate of Churchville-Chili Senior High School, will be a sophomore in the fall.

DeLapa's work will be on display at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois, August 5-7, in conjunction with Professional Photographers of America's international convention, Imaging USA. This exhibition is open to the public.

Army National Guard Pfc. Stephen P. Weiler has graduated from the unit supply specialist advanced individual training course at Fort Lee, Petersburg, Virginia. The student was trained in receipt, storage, issue and accountability of individual, organization, and installation supplies and equipment, and included training in maintenance of small arms. Weiler is the son of Irasema Kash of Rochester and Wayne D. Weiler of North Chili. In 2000, he graduated from Churchville-Chili High School.
Army Reserve Pvt. Ryan R. Raymond has graduated from basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Missouri. During the training, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history and traditions. He is the son of James Raymond of Rochester and Jakie Belasco of Hilton. He is a 2000 graduate of Hilton Central High School.
Army Pvt. Thomas M. Mulley has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Georgia.
