Gates Chili Rotary names officers
Gates Chili Rotary has named new officers for the 2001-2002 year. Peg Steffan, assistant administrator of Westwood Commons, a DePaul Senior Living Community, and resident of Churchville, was named president. Steffan is the third female president of the club since it was founded in 1971. Paul Weichec, manager of the Pavilion State Bank in North Chili, was named president elect. Other officers include Ted Richardson, vice president; Ralph Squires, secretary; and Dallas Embling, treasurer.
At the annual dinner, Past President Jim Reeder was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow, an award of merit for his leadership over the past year. Presenting the award was Assistant District Governor Bud Gerhardt, who spoke of the honor bestowed upon a Rotarian with this designation. Reeder became the fifty-second Paul Harris Fellow of the Gates Chili Club.
The Gates Chili Club meets weekly at noon at Rick's Prime Rib on Buffalo Road. The club sponsors several local programs to help area youth including Camp Haccamo, Hope Hall, the Gates Police Youth Leadership Program, and Boy Scout Troop 327. A membership drive is currently under way. Interested persons can contact Peg Steffan at 293-2060.
