Spencerport Canal Days 10K race results
Sean Calabrese, a 2001 graduate of Spencerport High School, finishing with a time of 34:41, was the overall winner in the Canal Days 10K race held Saturday, July 28 at 8 a.m. Maggie Whelehan, with a time of 39:42, was the overall women's winner. Proceeds from the race, sponsored by Whittier Fruit Farm, were donated to the Ogden Police Department's DARE program. The race was organized by the CATS Athletic Club, directed by Bill Kehoe. Each participant received a t-shirt. Overall winners received embroidered sweat shirts donated by the Canal Days Committee.
Eric Smith won the men's 200+ and Rick Merritt the 175 lb. Clydesdale divisions. Sharon Outler won the women's filly division. Age group winners for women were: 15-19 - Megan O'Brien 53:47; 20-24 - Amy Beigel 51:16; 25-29 - Ali Hoy 46:35; 30-34 - Michelle Rosenbaum 48:19; 35-39 - Sharon Outler 44:05; 40-44 - Marie White 43:40; 50 and up Lois Hotchkiss 50:22.
Age group winners for men were: 15-19 - Andy Leonard 35:59; 20-24 - Duffy Beigel 44:50; 25-29 - Jimmy Addona 39:31; 30-34 Eric Smith - 36:30; 35-39 - Bill Zwergler 40:00; 40-44 - Jocelyn Labbe 39:00; 45-49 - Mark Harrison 38:44; 50-54 - Jim Glinsky 43:27; 55-59 - Bob Champagne 47:52; 60 and over Donald Voorhees 53:30.
