Hilton-Parma Seniors plan trip
Plans have been made by the Hilton-Parma Senior Citizens for a one-day trip to the Amish country of New York state. Included in this trip is a complete Amish home tour in a modern home converted for simpler living. Lunch will also be in an Amish home with the meal being served family style. Also included is a stop at an Amish store, a horse-drawn ride, and an 1800s schoolhouse visit.
Participants can choose two different days, Friday, September 14 or Wednesday, September 26. Travelers should also be aware that modern bathrooms are not available and smoking and photo taking is not permitted. Also, the Amish do not have insurance; consequently, participants are at their own risk. For purchases, personal checks or cash are advised; credit cards are not accepted.
For each trip, buses will leave the Village Community Center at 8 a.m. Cost of this trip is $36, which includes the driver gratuity. Registration for these trips will take place on Thursday, August 16 in the Ingham Room of the Village Community Center where a random drawing will begin promptly at 10 a.m. Doors to the Ingham Room open at 9:15 a.m.
Since this trip is subsidized by the Town of Parma, it is open to Town of Parma Senior residents.
Meals are served at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Hilton-Parma Senior Center. To make lunch reservations, call the Recreation Department at 392-9030.
