Caring for an Aging Loved One program dates set
Mercy Center with the Aging, a ministry of the Sisters of Mercy, is now taking registrations for the fall series of its unique "Caring for an Aging Loved One" program. Since 1983, Mercy Center with the Aging has specialized in providing educational programs and resource materials geared to the needs of people planning for the present or future care of aging relatives and friends. Becoming the caregiver of an aging loved one can be a challenge filled with questions, concerns, anxiety, and confusion. It can also be a wonderful journey into family caregiving that ultimately brings peace, joy, and satisfaction. Pre-planning is crucial to avoiding the need to make important decisions under the pressure of a crisis.
"Caring for an Aging Loved One" seminars focus on: aging - the journey everyone takes and what to expect; caregiving - roles, responsibilities and changing family dynamics; communication - improving caregiving discussions; long-term care - available options; advance planning - financial planning and legal concerns; and spirituality - nurturing the inner spirit.
This six-part series provides extensive information about community resources for both the caregivers of seniors and for older adults themselves with all sessions taught by experts in their fields. The new 2002 edition of the Mercy Center with the Aging's comprehensive Resource Guide for Planning the Care of Aging Loved Ones is provided to each program participant for a $35 donation, the only cost associated with this program.
