Fire muster and parade September 8 in Hilton
The 2001 parade and muster of the Genesee Valley Chapter of SPAAMFAA (the Society for the Preservation And Appreciation of Motorized Fire Apparatus in America) will be held Saturday, September 8 at the Hilton Fire Department Field from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event includes a parade of antique apparatus through the Hilton Village at 10 a.m. and an all-day muster featuring hand drawn, horse drawn and motorized antique fire apparatus on display; firematic flea market; children's flame house (where kids hold the nozzle and put the fire out), bucket brigade and fire engine rides; non-motorized hose and nozzle races; antique fire apparatus drills.
The public is invited to attend and admission is free. Profit from the sale of food and from a 50/50 drawing will help fund aid to area burn victims.
SPAAMFAA is a non-profit organization chartered by the New York State Board of Regents dedicated to restoration and preservation of antique fire apparatus and the education of others on the history of antique fire apparatus. SPAAMFAA is an international organization with more than 35 chapters in the United States and Canada.
