Hilton 4-H Club to help with horse show fundraiser
The Hilton Horsemen 4-H Club is helping to put on the second Annual Lakeside Gymkhana on September 8 as its community project for this year. Last year the club won the Monroe County Service Award for its participation with the horse show. The award is given to a 4-H Club that strives for a better community. This year the club has expanded its involvement from riding in the event to setting up classes and selling raffle tickets.
Hilton Horsemen 4-H Club is made up of 25 children ages eight to 18, who own their own horses, and have an interest in learning more about horsemanship and riding.
"This is a great way for the kids to give back to their community. They have been working hard to make sure that this year's show is even better than last year," said JoAnne Fox, 4-H leader. "It's a great opportunity for them to see what community projects are all about and to learn that it's not all work and no play."
The horse show of speed events is organized by volunteers as a fundraiser. All proceeds will go towards the Lakeside "Building for the Next Generation" Capital Campaign. The show will be held at Manitou Hill Farms, 662 Manitou Road, Hilton, September 8 with a rain date of September 15. The show is open to all riders from advanced to beginner ability. This year's show promises to provide fun and horsemanship for all that attend. Call 395-6049 for more information about the 4-H club or the gymkhana.
