SUNY Brockport wins season opener vs. Cortland
Senior linebacker Jay Johnson forced a fumble at the Brockport 14-yard line with 45 seconds remaining to protect a 17-14 SUNY Brockport football victory over SUNY Cortland at Special Olympics Stadium September 1.
The victory was the 13th straight in regular season play for the Golden Eagles. It was also the sixth straight victory in the series for SUNY Brockport.
Brockport posted 191 yards in offense while Cortland had 136 yards on the day. The Brockport defense had five sacks and the Cortland defenders sacked the Golden Eagles four times.
Brockport hosts New Jersey City September 8 at 1:30 p.m.
