Spencerport Community Chorus kicks off season
The 40-voice Spencerport Community Chorus, now in it's 20th year, is an active choral group that rehearses Sunday from 3 to 5:15 p.m. at the historic First Congregational Church (The White Church) located at 65 Church Street in Spencerport. It is a member of the Greater Rochester Choral Consortium (GRCC) and has participated in the annual Community Carol Sing and traditional Tree Lighting by the canal; historical canal events; Summer Canal Days; winter and spring concerts; the Prism Concert at the Eastman Theater.
The chorus performs a variety of music from 12th Century melodies to Sacred and Secular John Rutter arrangements to Jazz, from Bach to Broadway, from African and French melodies sung in original languages to Handel and Haydn.
Membership includes residents of Spencerport, Hilton, Greece, Webster, East Rochester and other towns around the county.
The group is directed by Margaret Page Colucci, and accompanied by Margaret Johnson. Susan McKnight has accompanied and also directed the chorus. All are music educators.
The chorus is managed by a Board of Directors, G. Robert Dean, President. There is a $5 fee for members, and concerts are free and held at the White Church. Concert dates for the season are: Saturday, December 1 at 7 p.m.; Sunday, December 2 at 3 p.m.; Saturday, March 2 at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, March 3 at 3 p.m.
