Unity Health System's Adult Daycare
honored by Alzheimer's Association
Unity Health System's dementia-specific adult daycare program, Park Place at St. Bernard's, received the 2001 Quality of Life Award for being an outstanding support service provider. Sponsored by the Rochester Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, the award was presented at the Rochester Chapter's annual fund raising dinner in June.
Nominations for the Quality of Life Award were requested from the nine-county area served by the Rochester Chapter. Nominees were asked to demonstrate their commitment to fulfilling the Alzheimer's Association mission of "creating a world without Alzheimer's disease while optimizing the quality of life for individuals and their families."
Park Place at St. Bernard's opened in 1996 and began to offer dementia-specific programs in 1997. The facility is located at the former St. Bernard's Seminary at 2260 Lake Avenue. The program operates seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Respite care is also provided.
Unity Health System, in conjunction with the Alzheimer's Association, also hosts three support groups for caregivers; two groups meet at St. Bernard's and one meets at The Village at Park Ridge.
