Hamlin plans 2002 celebrations
The Hamlin Wheel Fest Committee has held their first planning meeting for the 2002 celebration. Next year's event will be held Friday, May 31 and June 1. The event is expected to be bigger and better due to the cooperation between the Hamlin Fire Department who will be celebrating their 75th Anniversary and the Town of Hamlin Sesquicentennial celebrating 150 years.
The Hamlin Wheel Fest Committee is beginning by selling their coverlets for $50. This coverlet depicts many of the special buildings of historical significance located throughout the Town of Hamlin. For those who have not seen the coverlet, one is on display in the Hamlin Town Clerk's Office where they also may be purchased. Committee members say they have received many compliments on the coverlet which will make a great Christmas present or just a keepsake marking the Town of Hamlin's 150 years.
The Hamlin Wheel Fest and Sesquicentennial Committees can always use volunteers. The next scheduled meeting will be October 2 at 7 p.m. in the Hamlin Town Hall. For information, contact the Town Clerk's Office at 964-2421.
