Rangers' netters nip Saints
The Spencerport Rangers girls tennis team won first and third singles and second doubles to defeat Churchville-Chili 3-2 on September 17.
Sophomore Alia Aslam won 6-3, 6-0 in first singles and junior Alison Olney followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win in third singles. The team of senior Jenny Schweers and junior Stephanie Tornow won the doubles match 6-3, 6-3.
For the Saints, junior Carolyn Philson won a long, three-set match with Stacey McCullough 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 while first the first doubles pair of Amy and Amanda Piatek won their match 6-2 and 7-6. They were down 5-1 in the second set before coming on strong to close the match.
The Rangers improved to 3-2 league, 4-2 overall while Churchville fell to 1-5 overall.
