MRB Group, Engineering, Architecture, Surveying, P.C. announces that Thomas A. Pavone, P.E. has assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer. Pavone is a Principal of the firm and previously served as the Discipline Coordinator of Engineering. Pavone is a resident of Spencerport and has been with the firm since 1997 when his company, T.A. Pavone and Associates, merged with MRB Group.


Brandon Steinorth, of Hilton, has been awarded the Fred L. Emerson Foundation Scholarship at Ithaca College. The $1,700 scholarship is based on academic excellence and significant contributions to the extracurricular life on campus. This is the second year he has received this award. Steinorth will be a junior this fall at Ithaca where he is majoring in secondary education with a minor in voice. The 6,000 enrolled students have recently elected him as student body vice president. He has also been elected as president of Ithacappella, a men's a cappella group that has performed on campus as well as several tours across the eastern states. He is the son of Rob and Sheila Steinorth of Hilton and a 1999 graduate of Hilton High School.


Kendall resident and St. Bonaventure University student Deborah A Kruger was one of two William G. McGowan Scholars for the 2001-2002 academic year. The program, administered by William G. McGowan Charitable Fund Inc., provides a full-tuition scholarship for one year to eligible business majors who have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and are recommended by at least one School of Business faculty member. Kruger, a student in the university's five-year BBA-MBA program in accounting, has been a regular on the dean's list, having maintained a 4.0 average and been selected to Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. She expects to graduate with both degrees in May 2001.

She has served on the Campus Activities Board and in the Bonaventure Accounting Association and played intramural soccer at the university, where she has also served as a Friedsam Memorial Library assistant since 1998. During summer 2000, she served as an accounting intern for The Arc of Orleans County, updating depreciation schedules, making adjusting entries within the software system, assisting with purchase orders and reconciling bank statements. Kruger is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William G. Kruger of Kendall.


Army Capt. James A. Faulknor has been decorated with the Meritorious Service Medal. The medal is awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who distinguish themselves by outstanding non-combat meritorious achievement or service to the United States.

Faulknor is commander assigned to the 4th Squadron, 7th Cavalry at Cap Stanton, Kwang Tan, South Korea. He is the son of Charles N. Faulknor of Hilton. The captain is a 1990 graduate of Hilton Central High School, and a 1994 graduate of SUNY Oswego.


Kristin E. Peletz has graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Advanced Camp at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Washington. After successfully completing advanced camp and graduating from college, the cadet will be commissioned as a second lieutenant to serve in the U.S. Army, National Guard, or Reserve.

The cadet is currently a student at SUNY Brockport. Peletz is the daughter of Barbara A. Strebel of Brockport and a 1998 graduate of Brockport High School.
