Members will sell batteries as fundraiser

The Brockport High School Band will travel to Kentucky May 1 through 4 to perform in the Pegasus Parade and the Kentucky Music Festival. Traditionally, the band travels to a national music festival every other spring.

To help raise funds for the trip, band members will sell 9-volt batteries as a tie-in to daylight savings time and the national campaign for changing smoke detector batteries when clocks are set back.

The battery sale, featuring Everready Alkaline 9 volt batteries for $2.50, will begin on October 13. Band members will canvas the community from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. with the Market Street Fire Hall as the base of operations.
