The Spencerport Fire Department is again sponsoring a community-wide Exit Drill In The Home during Fire Prevention Week. This life-saving exercise, commonly referred to as "E.D.I.T.H.," will be conducted in partnership with fire departments throughout Monroe County on Wednesday, October 10 at 7 p.m. All residents are encouraged to participate in this activity which has saved lives throughout the nation.

Adults and senior citizens, as well as students of Spencerport schools and their families, are invited to practice the drill at the same time, making it a neighborhood event. Important elements of the Exit Drill In The Home include: testing all of the smoke detectors; discussing a plan of evacuation including two ways out; deciding on a place to meet outside, away from the home; and physically practicing the plan.
