Brockport School District supports new bomb threat law
In the wake of the September 11 terrorist acts, the New York Legislature approved a new law that will substantially change the penalty for falsely reporting a bomb threat in schools. Under the new law, the penalty for reporting a false bomb threat has been increased to a Class D felony, which means that anyone convicted of calling a bomb threat to a public school could be imprisoned for up to seven years.
Brockport School Superintendent James Fallon would like to inform students, parents, school personnel and visitors of this new law, which will be displayed on posters throughout the district and in the district newsletter.
"Brockport fully supports this new legislation," said Fallon. "It sends a strong message that bomb threats are not pranks, but serious threats to the safety and order of our schools."
