Saints Patalano scores two
Junior Joanna Patalano scored a goal in each half - her first two of the season - to pace the Churchville-Chili Saints to a 3-1 victory over Brockport September 28.
The Saints took a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute as junior Jenna Stevens one-timed a cross from Katie Lamica into the net. Patalano made it 2-0 Saints two minutes later with a header off Kimmie Hill's perfect corner kick.
The Blue Devils closed to within one in the 48th minute as sophomore Ashley Willams knocked in a corner kick from Barbie Helf. But Patalano put the game out of reach with another header, this time off a cross from Kari Frankenberger, making the final score 3-1.
Patalano played seven games as the goalkeeper due to an injury to another player and racked up four shutouts. This was just her second game in the field. "I prefer playing in the field, but I needed to help the team. Both goals tonight were in the perfect spot for headers." The Saints improved to 8-2 overall, 3-1 in league action.
