Hilton students offer patriotic concert
Hilton students will present a Musical Salute to America on Thursday, October 25 at 7 p.m. The free concert will be held at the high school.
As a response to the September 11 tragedy, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction Susan Allen has invited all school musical groups to perform a patriotic selection at the concert. In addition, other local groups and church choirs have been invited to participate.
During the event, a free-will collection will be taken up with proceeds divided between the American Red Cross and the New York City Fire Department.
Government representatives from the village and town all the way up to the President of the United States have been invited to introduce each group. The district doesn't know as of yet which of the politicians might be attending.
In anticipation of a large crowd, the performers will be staged in the gymnasium and the performance will be telecast to the auditorium and other venues as needed to accommodate the audience.
