Murray incumbents unopposed
Incumbents for the November election in the Town of Murray urge voters to get out and cast their votes even though all officials are running unopposed.
Town Supervisor Henry Lehning, who is finishing his second two year term as supervisor, said it is nice to know the elected officials have the support of their constituents.
"Even though we are all unopposed it helps to know you have the support of the people," he said.
Lehning joined the Murray town board in 1990 as a councilman when he was appointed to fill an unexpired term.
"Four years is a short time on a job like this," he said of his reason for seeking re-election. "The town is in the middle of so many water line projects that I want to stay here and keep plugging away at them."
Town Councilman John Morriss is finishing up his first year on the board after being appointed to fill an unexpired term.
"I had been on the Holley village board for six years and felt it was time to expand my view and vision," he said of his reason for running for Murray councilman.
Morriss said the big project for the town is trying to get water throughout the whole town.
"We still have a lot of individuals who don't have good water," he said. "We are striving hard to get water to everyone that needs, and wants its." He urged all residents to come out and cast their votes on November 6.
"Voting is one of our rights, as Americans, that everyone should exercise," he said.
Henry Wagner, a 20-year veteran of the town board said his reason for running for election again is that he enjoys working for the community. He has been deputy supervisor for the past eight years.
"We are involved in water line projects and researching the building of a new town hall," he said.
Also on the ballot are Jennifer H. Piedmonte for town clerk; Lynn Wood, assessor; and Highway Superintendent Edward F. Morgan.
