Churchville-Chili Middle School 'Walks for Peace'
Churchville-Chili Middle School students, parents and staff participated in a "Walk for Peace and Remembrance" walk-a-thon, in remembrance of those who lost their lives on September 11 and in honor of those who have dedicated their lives in service of others.
As the students walked on September 28, they stopped at different stations where they sang patriotic songs and learned the history of the American flag. They also created red armbands in honor of the lives lost on September 11. At one station, community firefighters, police officers and state troopers had students sign a banner that was presented to firefighters in New York City.
The walk-a-thon, organized by the Middle School Service Club, raised $6,249 for the Red Cross and New York City relief efforts. Approximately 200 students, parents and staff members collected donations up to the date of the walk, which took place on Friday, September 28.
