Twig Scholarship winner gives back to Lakeside
While attending SUNY Fredonia, Aleka Schuth was the recipient of the Lakeside Twig Scholarship and promised to return to Lakeside when and if there was an opening for her. Schuth, of Kendall, is now a recreation specialist at Lakeside Beikirch Care Center. She has been previously involved at Lakeside Health System for many years as an activities assistant/feeding aid while in school and as a music therapist at the Lakeside Child Care Center.
Schuth completed her clinical training at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital in Burkeville, Virginia, and also recently received accreditation from the Certification Board for Music Therapists. Music therapy "is an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address the physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of individuals," she said.
