"Rochester's Old Glory" flag exhibit opens at the RMSC
Since the tragic events of September 11 and the subsequent threats to this nation's way of life, people everywhere have been motivated to display the American flag. As the most enduring and most recognized national symbol. "Old Glory" has special meaning and significance for people the world over, citizens and non-citizens alike.
The Rochester Museum and Science Center is offering a small selection of flags, chosen from the collection of approximately 150 flags entrusted to the RMSC by the community over the years, in an exhibit entitled Rochester's Old Glory. The exhibit opened Tuesday, November 6, and runs through Thursday, July 4, 2002. These historic flags span 150 years, perhaps more. They are a connection to the past, to those times and events where the flag, then as today, unified and strengthened national resolve.
