Holley boys in final again
For the tenth time in the past twelve seasons, the Holley Hawks boy's soccer team find themselves in the Class CC finals after a 2-1 win over Perry November 1.
The Hawks took a 1-0 lead late in the first half when Stephen Mallaber put in the rebound following Scott Cavanaugh's initial shot. In the 55th minute, Mallaber scored his second of the game on a nice three-way passing play with Cavanaugh and D. Matthew Nelson. Perry broke up the shutout bid with 12 minutes left in the game.
"We prefer a wider field and this was a little narrow," Holley Coach Dan Orbaker commented about the soccer field at neutral site Spencerport. "We want into a bit of defensive shell in the second half and we play poorly when we do that. We disappeared at times in the second half and let them back in it."
Holley advanced to the Class CC final to play rival Byron-Bergen November 3.
