"Canaltown Christmas" performance at local dinner
"Canaltown Christmas" will be playing Friday, December 7 and Saturday, December 8 at the Spencerport United Methodist Church. Curtain time is 6 p.m. Written and directed by Darla Bair, the historical fiction show revolves around the McGuire family. Son Sean and Papa are digging the canal; the year is 1823. Portions of the canal have been opened, but not the part near the McGuires. Mother hopes Sean will come home for Christmas.
Much singing by the audience and the cast creates a festive, holiday mood. Dinner is a hearty meal representing the German, Irish, Dutch and English families in the show. Maeve McGuire is played by Bev Compertore, with her mother, Fiona, played by Bonnie Day. Henry, the storytelling itinerant, is played by Joe Blakely. Marta Frisch is Diana Keery, and starry-eyed Sally McGuire is played by Lindsay Edwards. Miss Blossom, the singing school teacher, is Sally Martin.
