Angels at work
These girl scouts and members of seven other troops in the Brockport area helped choose books for the "Be A Gift Angel" project. Last Tuesday evening, scouts and their leaders helped pick books for giving. Funded by contributions of community members at various merchants and by scouts' donations of a portion of their cookie sale proceeds, Lift Bridge Books gives each troop $100 to add to their donation and provides the books at special discount prices. Scouts go to work picking gifts that will be offered in outreach efforts such as the Toy Shelf Program and Hamlin Bread and Thread. The goal of the project, says Patty Kutz of Lift Bridge Books, is that every family participating in those programs and others gets the chance to choose a book for every child in the family. At Lift Bridge Books alone, $1,250 was collected from $1 donations made during the holiday season, Hill School donated $250.
