Blue Devils drop to Fairport
The Brockport Blue Devils girl's basketball was outscored 17-9 in the third quarter and dropped a 63-42 game to Fairport December 17. After allowing the Red Raiders to jump out to a 10-4 lead, Brockport fought back to tie the game 12-12 with less than a minute left in the first quarter. Fairport would then go on a 20-5 run and go into half-time leading 32-17.
Gabrielle Boley scored half of her eight points in the third quarter and the Blue Devils scored eight straight and ten-of-twelve points in the fourth quarter, but those were the only sustained offensive bursts. Brockport, after trailing by 27 points at the end of the third quarter, fought back to outscore the Red Raiders in the fourth quarter 16-14 albeit with both second teams in the lineup.
Fairport's Lindsay Ellis led all scorers with 19 points. Kelly Jones was Brockport's leading scorer with nine points followed by Boley with eight and Jennifer Leasure with seven. Merideth Lewis and Nan Luma each added four points to the offense. The Blue Devils went to the line just ten times making just three, compared to 21 attempts for Fairport.
