Schroeder, who served 24 years in the House of Representatives, is one of the few women in modern times to be a candidate for the Presidency of the United States. During her 12 terms in Congress, she was a champion of several causes, including national family policy on issues such as parental leave, child care and family planning. She also was a leader in foreign and military policy, serving on the House National Security and Judicial committees, as well as Select Committee on Children, Youth and Families. In 1991, she helped expedite the National Security Committee's vote to allow women to fly combat missions
Schroeder is the current president and CEO of the Association of American Publishers, a national trade organization of the U.S. book publishing industry. She also is currently leading New Century/New Solutions, an out-of-the-box think tank, for the Institute for Civil Society in Newton, Massachusetts and is co-chair of the Democracy Online Project's National Task Force.

The Susan B. Anthony House was Anthony's home during the most politically active period of her life and the site of her famous arrest for voting in 1872. Anthony's story of courage and determination has been told and re-told to visitors for more than 50 years. The Susan B. Anthony House, a National Historic Landmark Museum, is supported primarily through the contributions of its members.
