Holding/Unger lead Blue Devils
Dan Holding scored a pair of goals and goaltender Nick Unger held Webster scoreless as the Brockport Blue Devils defeated Webster 4-0 in the championship game of the Westside Tournament.
Holding scored both of his goals in the first period less than two minutes apart to stake Brockport to the lead. Colby Jones assisted on both goals and Craig Willis helped with the first.
Early in the second period, Rich Napierala took a pass from Jones, raced down the right wing and rifled a shot that beat the goaltender stick-side for a 3-1 lead. Casey Balog finished the scoring when the Webster goaltender misplayed a clearing attempt and Balog found the open net.
Holding and Jones were both named to the All-Tournament team and Unger was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Brockport has a pair of divisional games in the coming week as they try to hold onto first place. They battle Penfield January 8 and Spencerport January 12.
