Penna scores 16 in Hawks' win
Justin Penna scored 16 points and led with seven rebounds as the Holley Hawks defeated Lyndonville 65-49 in the consolidation game of the Holley Boys Basketball Tournament.
Holley trailed at half-time 26-23, but outscored the Tigers 24-7 in the third quarter. Mark Trupo scored nine of his thirteen points and Todd Winslove knocked down three three-pointers in the quarter as the Hawks dominated coming out of the locker room. The lead was as much as 23 points midway through the final quarter.
Travis Mitchell scored 11 points with seven of them coming in the opening eight minutes of the game. Rob Wright dished out eight assists. Head coach Frank Mitchell said about the changes made at half time, "we just switched defenses more often to try to keep them off balance and it worked."
The Hawks are back home January 11 to battle Wheatland-Chili and are home for six of their remaining nine games this season.
