The Society of Illustrators has asked national and international award winning artist Gary Lessord of Orlando to exhibit his art in a special fundraising event in New York City. The Memorial Exhibition, entitled Prevailing Human Spirit, will honor the heroism and humanity demonstrated in the wake of the catastrophic events of September 11, 2001. Lessord's artwork "Creative Splendor" will be on display at the Museum of American Illustration through February 2. The painting was also exhibited by invitation during May 2001, in the United States Senate Rotunda, Washington, D.C. Lessord works in a variety of media depicting many different subjects. His series of biblical-based images has touched the hearts of hundreds of thousands of viewers through exhibitions and printed form across the United States and abroad. The Society of Illustrators organized this recent exhibit to demonstrate how powerful and thought-provoking works of art can be.
