Spencerport Area C of C names award winners
The Spencerport Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual awards dinner on Friday, January 25 at the Whittier Party House. Social time begins at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. The music department from Spencerport High School will provide entertainment.
The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Chamber's annual awards to the following recipients: Ralph Pembroke will receive the Clyde W. Carter Citizen of the Year Award. Pembroke has been actively involved with scouting for 45 years, and has been an active member of St. John's Church community. Joseph Peworchik, owner of Walker Brothers Funeral Home, has been chosen to receive the Business Person of the Year Award. Peworchik is a past president and current member of the Spencerport Kiwanis Club. Denny Marra, owner of Barefoot Landing on North Union Street, will receive the Civic Beautification Award for his efforts in "making a good plaza look better."
Also to be recognized at the dinner will be a number of local organizations which have achieved milestones: Roberts Wesleyan College, 135 years; A.J. Hughes Screw Company, Inc., 40 years; D'Angelo Plumbing & Heating Corp., 35 years; Spencerport Lions Club, 45 years; Spencerport Rotary Club, 25 years; and Spencerport Kiwanis Club, 20 years.
Tickets are $20 per person and are available for purchase at the Ogden Community Center reception desk, Cardinal Landscape, The Unique Shop, Village of Spencerport offices, and Westside News.
