Three Spencerport Fire Department members were honored for 50 years of service to their organization at the department's annual dinner in December 2001. Honored were Richard Haworth, Donald Magin, and Raymond Foster, Sr. All three are still active members of the organization.

Dick Haworth entered the organization in November 1951. He rose through the ranks to serve as chief from 1977-1979. A retired deputy chief from Eastman Kodak, Haworth is still one of the department's more active firefighters and often can be found driving the ladder truck to the scene of fire calls.

Don Magin entered the department in December 1951. He served as president from 1961-62. He then went through the ranks to chief from 1973-76. He served as president of the New York State chiefs for several years. He still attends many daytime fire calls. Magin is retired from the Spencerport School District.

Ray Foster, Sr. entered the Spencerport Fire Department in April 1951. He coached the Red Onions for many years and now serves with the fire police unit. Foster has also been a fire commissioner with the Ogden-Parma Fire District since 1984. He is a retiree of Eastman Kodak Company. Foster is also currently a member of the International Fire Chiefs Association and the Eastern Fire Chiefs Association.

Spencerport will have several other members reaching this goal over the next several years. This is an unusual occurrence for a fire department and Spencerport department members say they are proud of their achievement.
