Brockport wrestlers win twice

The Brockport wrestling teams opened 2002 with two victories in a span of three days.

On Thursday, January 3 the Blue Devils defeated Olympia 43 to 9 as Brockport won 10 of 13 weight classes. Winning decisions in the match were Nick Della Rocco, Colby Fisher, Jason Keable, Andy Kleehammer, Dave Rogers and Iron Boley. Chad Irwin and Scott LaDue both pinned. Tommy Armstrong won by technical fall and Kevin Bush won by forfeit.

The second annual alumni night was held Saturday, January 5. A pre-match ceremony was held recognizing former wrestlers and coaches. The team treated the crowd to a 54 to 13 victory over Greece Athena. Four wrestlers won by pin: Nick Della Rocco, Travis Hilbert, Chad Irwin and Tom Armstrong. Winning decisions were Sean Riley and Scott LaDue, both Jason Keable and Dave Rogers won by default. Kevin Bush won by technical fall while Iron Boley received a forfeit.

The 4-1 varsity team traveled to Canandaigua to compete in the Bradshaw Tournament on January 11 and 12.
