Public input sought on Chili's Routes 33 and 259
proposed intersection reconstruction plan
Reconstruction of Routes 33 and 259 intersection in Chili discussion February 13
The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will be hosting a public meeting next month to discuss the proposed safety improvements to the intersection of Routes 33 and 259 in the Town of Chili.
The meeting will be held at the Pearce Memorial Church (Friendship Center Room), 4322 Buffalo Road on February 13. Displays and information tables will be staffed by DOT project staff. Interested individuals, groups, local officials and agencies will have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with project engineers to provide comments on the proposed project. An open forum will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. A formal presentation will be made at 7:30 p.m. and staff will be available afterwards until 9 p.m. to answer questions.
The DOT is soliciting comments on the development of alternatives for the project and comments on the project's social, economic and environment effects.
The project includes extended work on each of the four intersection legs.
- On Route 33 (Buffalo Road), the project will extend approximately to Attridge Road to the west and Orchard Street to the east.
- On Route 259 (Union Street), the project will extend approximately to Parkway Drive to the south and in the area of Berry Lane to the north.
- The project proposes the addition of left turn lanes at the intersection of Routes 33 and 259. The intersection of Route 33 and Attridge Road would be improved to make eastbound right turns easier and a right turn lane at Attridge Road would be added.
- Sidewalks are included for improved pedestrian access with a new sidewalk to be constructed along the north side of Route 33 between Orchard Street and Miller Lane with a connection at College Greene Drive.
