Grillo, Doty, Goeres pins lead Holley
Top ranked Holley hosted second-ranked Kendall January 15 in wrestling and the Hawks were 43-29 victors to remain undefeated at 7-0 for the season.
Andrew Grillo (119 lbs.), Ben Doty (275 lbs.) and Anwar Goeres (96 lbs.) recorded pins for the Hawks while Fred Banks (135 lbs.) won with a technical fall. Rick Underwood (125 lbs.), Matt Paeth (160 lbs.), Jason Widrig (171 lbs.) and Adam Ezell also won decisions for Holley.
Dave Warren (215 lbs.) and Geoff Chippendale (103 lbs.) won via pin for Kendall and Casey Birchfield (152 lbs.) won via technical fall. Troy Tooley (130 lbs.), Matt Beres (140 lbs.) and Donald Williams (145 lbs.) won by decision for the Eagles.
Following the meet Holley head coach John Grillo said, "This was a huge win for us against the second ranked team in our class. This win showed the depth this team has."
The Hawks have two road matches remaining at Lyndonville January 29 and at Notre Dame of Batavia before the league and Section Five matches begin. Kendall has home matches left against Attica January 31 and senior night against Lyndonville February 5.
