Marv Levy kicks off
the Arc's Signature Series
Marv Levy is coming to speak to Orleans County. The scholarly football coaching legend has agreed to be the first speaker for The Arc of Orleans County's Signature Series. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Legacy of Love Arc Endowment Fund.
"We're absolutely thrilled to get Marv Levy's agreement and to announce our area dinner on September 12," said Donald G. Colquhoun, executive director of The Arc, a 30-year-old agency now serving over 500 children and adults with disabilities in Orleans County.
"The Legacy of Love Endowment Committee has sought out someone with universal appeal as the first annual celebrity," said Robert E. Waters, chairman of the Endowment. "And Marv has certainly hit the headlines this year with his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He'll not only bring a personal side of sports, but a viewpoint on leadership and achieving success."
Levy, 76, is currently a "man of the hour" in the world of professional football, having been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001. The personable, yet modest, football strategist is the tenth winningest NFL coach of all time and retired after the '97 season, his twelfth in Buffalo, where he compiled a record of 123-78.
The Harvard educated coach, holding a master's degree in English History, is an exercise enthusiast, a dedicated reader of history, engages in numerous charitable works, and is affiliated with Fox Sport Network in TV commentary.
The Legacy of Love Arc Endowment and Investment Committees grew out of the 1998-99 campaign called "Building for Our Future," and its membership comes from a cross section of Orleans County.
