Schwamberger on NHL draft list
Spencerport native Mark Schwamberger is ranked among the top 300 skaters eligible for the NHL Entry Draft June 22-23 in Toronto. Schwamberger is ranked 142nd among 300 skaters.
The 6' 2", 202-lb. center played two seasons with the Spencerport Rangers high school hockey team under Coach Tom Donnelly before joining the U.S. National team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He played with the Under-17 team last season in the North American Hockey League and is with the Under-18 team this season. He has registered three assists in five games played but has missed much of the season due to the effects of a concussion.
Another area player making his mark in the hockey world is Hilton's Frank Burgio, now with the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League. The 6' 0", 190-lb. defenseman has two goals, five assists and 55 penalty minutes in 46 games. He had previously played with the Rochester Junior "A" Americans in the NAHL before moving north.
