Pelletier named new football coach at Brockport
Offensive Coordinator Greg Pelletier was named the new head coach of the Brockport Blue Devils varsity football team in January. A 1990 graduate from Aquinas High School and a Canisius College alum, Pelletier was the JV coach at Aquinas (1994-98) and Brockport in 1999 before becoming varsity offensive coordinator two seasons ago.
He replaces Scott Hopsicker who spent two seasons as head coach of the Blue Devils and resigned as head coach after the season but will remain as an assistant. We made some major changes when Scott took over two years ago and most of those will stay in place, said Pelletier. Based on personnel, well be a lot more wide open on offense using one running back with four wide receivers. Last year, we threw the ball 220 times and this year we may throw 350-400 times. And well be more aggressive on defense.
The schedule makers did the Blue Devils no favors with none of the four teams Brockport defeated last season on the docket. Brockport will play Spencerport for the first time next season, however.
We have a brand new fitness center so we have more kids in the weight room. I expect us to be a lot stronger and faster next season, Pelletier said.
