Sullivan free throws beat Rangers
Churchville-Chilis Katie Sullivan sank two free throws with just 15 seconds left in the game as the Saints held on to beat Spencerport 50-48 in girls basketball February 5.
Spencerports Lisa Eberhart tied the game at 48-48 before Sullivan went to the line. The Rangers were fouled on their third shot with one second left on the clock, but could not convert the free throws, which would have tied the game.
The Saints took a 27-26 lead into half-time in spite of giving up the last eight points to the Rangers. Each team went on 9-2 runs in the third quarter and Churchville-Chili had the chance to ice the game in the fourth quarter but missed on the front end of two 1-1s.
The Saints Joanna Patalano led all scorers with 22 points, Sullivan scored 17, Julie Vislay tallied five points and Angela Mancini added four. For the Rangers, Carrie Kazmierski scored 17 points, Eberhart ten and Nicole Garouol adding eight to the offense. The Saints were 12-19 from the foul line while the Rangers were just 5-15.
