Area student to play in Howard Hanson Piano Recital

Christopher Coon was named a winner in the Howard Hanson piano auditions. He, with six others, will perform in the Howard Hanson Piano Recital Sunday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Nazareth College Arts Auditorium.

This annual recital, one of Rochester's most prestigious for high school seniors, is sponsored by the Rochester Piano Teachers' Guild. Admission is free and the auditorium is wheelchair accessible.

Coon is the son of Craig and Joanne Coon and is a piano student of Troy Slocum. A senior at Spencerport High, he is an American Legion National Scholarship Finalist and a National Merit Semifinalist. He enjoys jazz saxophone, Karate, and science.

He plans to major in optics or physics at the university level.
