Regional Science Olympiad held in Brockport
Three hundred and twenty-five area high school students came to SUNY Brockport on Saturday, February 9, to compete in the regional 2002 High School Science Olympiad. The students demonstrated their knowledge of chemical reactions, mapping, rocks and minerals, ornithology, simple machines, mineralogy, human disease, earth processes, and the experimental method. Students applied their technological know-how in designing and building boomilevers, wheeled vehicles, robots, musical instruments, airplanes, catapults, recoil cords, and energy transfer devices.

Students from Brighton High School, Webster Thomas High School, Wayne Central, Pittsford Mendon, Churchville-Chili, Palmyra-Macedon, Rush-Henrietta, and Gates Chili were also awarded medals for first, second, and third place finishes in the various events.
