Students donate books to RTS
Churchville-Chili High School students donated 2,862 books to Regional Transit Service (RTS) for its Books on the Bus program. RTS has been putting books on buses to encourage young riders to read.
The book drive was part of the February Spirit Week competition. The seniors brought in the most books, a total of 1,628. They also won the overall spirit competition. Juniors brought in 625 books and sophomores, 609 books.
The school's Executive Council (student government) organized the book drive as a "thank you" to RTS for donating a bus to transport families from Rochester for the Executive Council's annual Children's Holiday Party. The members of the Executive Council are: Jordan Hawthorne, president, Amy Faro, vice president, Ben Allen, Jennifer Alliet, Tharin Beeman, Samantha Gabel, Jenny Richiuso and Kristen Sandford. The faculty advisors are Jennifer Pacatte and Michele Schilling.
