AREA

•Patton, Carl H., 94, February 9, 2002, of Dover died of heart failure at Kindred Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Born in Rochester, on March 19, 1907, he moved to the Plant City, Florida area in 1974 from Spencerport. He was a mechanic for Chevron Oil Company. He was a member of Light & Life Free Methodist Camp. He is survived by his sons, Ronald Patton, Syracuse, Darrell Patton, Dover, and Warren Patton, Hendersonville, North Carolina; daughters, Shirley Hill, Clearwater, and Gayle Grandy, Spencerport; sister, Ruth Hensler, Rochester; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Services were held February 14 at Lakeland Funeral Home.


BROCKPORT

•Burley, Raymond L. "The Wood Man," He is survived by his wife, Irene; children, Linda (Mario) DeLaura, Nita Burley, Michael Burley, Sandra Burley, Carol Ralph, Karen Haberger, Cynthia Burley and Andrew Burley; seven step-children; 29 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert and Herbert Burley; sister, Emma Weader; several nieces and nephews. Veteran of WWII. Member of Brockport's VFW Post #2890.

Funeral Services were held March 8 at Fowler Funeral Home, Inc., Brockport. Interment Garland Cemetery in the spring of the year. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association.


CHURCHVILLE

•Cauvel, Barbara A., Monday, February 25, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Cauvel and her son, David. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Greg) Pimm of Churchville; her son, Douglas Cauvel of Grand Rapids, Michigan; her daughter-in-law, Cheryl (Curt) Lester of Michigan; grandchildren, Charles (Aimee) Cauvel and Michael (KaLonny) Cauvel, both of Michigan, Pamela (Timothy) Gaffney and Amanda Pimm, both of Churchville; great grandchildren, Kacey Gaffney and Jordan Collins; her sisters, Muriel (Donald) Carlson and Audrey (Ronald) Brown; her sister-in-law, Phyllis (Richard) Odlund; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services and interment were at the convenience of the family. Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in her memory.


•Cauvel, David W., Sunday, January 27, 2002 at age 47. He was predeceased in 1989 by his father Harold Cauvel and was joined in death February 25, 2002 by his mother, Barbara Cauvel. He is survived by his brother, Douglas Cauvel of Grand Rapids, Michigan; his sister Nancy (Greg) Pimm of Churchville; sister-in-law Cheryl Lester of Michigan; nephews, Charles (Aimee) Cauvel and Michael (Kalonny) Cauvel, both of Michigan; nieces, Pamela (Timothy) Gaffney and Amanda Pimm, both of Churchville; great nephews, Kenneth Gaffney and Jordan Collins.

Funeral Services and interment were at the convenience of the family. Contributions can be made to the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center, 745 West Avenue, Rochester 14611 in his memory.


HILTON

•Balschmiter, Bernice L., March 2, 2002, age 77, widow of William Balschmiter, 1981. She is survived by her children, Brenda, Bradley (Susan) Balschmiter; four grandchildren, Sarah, Baylee, Brandice, and Breiten Balschmiter; two sisters, Loretta (Elwood) Atwater and Marcia (Paul) Kenyon; one brother, Leland "Bud" Voelker; several nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by her brother, Ray Voelker.

A Service was held March 6 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc. Private interment Lyndonville, NY. those wishing can make contributions to the Hilton Volunteer Ambulance.


•Kuzniarek, Joseph S., February 26, 2002 at age 52. Joseph is predeceased by his parents, Joseph (Marian) Kuzniarek. He is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Mariano, Angela and Joseph Jr.; grandchild, Nichole; great grandchild, Destany; sisters, Therese (Paul) Ketterer, Florence (Gerald) Kurttila; nieces, Pamela, Heather, Jennifer; nephew, Joe.

Funeral Services were held March 2 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home Inc. Interment at the convenience of the family. Contributions can be made to the American Lung Association.


•Shanhart, Marilyn A., February 28, 2002. Survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Joe Weck-esser; nieces, Joanne (Gary) Jay and Linda Weckesser; nephews, Tom (Mary Jo), Paul (Lynn), and Greg Weckesser; four great-nephews; and one great-niece; several cousins and many good friends.

Memorial Mass was said March 4 at Holy Cross Church. Contributions can be sent to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association in her memory.


•Watkins, Henry S., Saturday, March 2, 2002. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce (Hazard) Watkins; children, Stanley (Mindy) Watkins, Paul (Kara) Watkins, JoAnne (Gene) Nichols, Mary (Michael) Schultz, Joyce (Tony) Gravino, David (Andrea) Watkins; brothers Alex (Elizabeth), Adolph (Lynda), John (Carol), Frank (Debbie); sister, Arlean (Paul) Trabold; 17 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. He has been an employee of Midtown Plaza in Rochester since it opened.

Funeral Services were held March 5 at Walker Brothers Company Funeral Home Inc., Spencerport. Interment Parma Union Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Hilton Volunteer Ambulance or to the American Cancer Society in his memory.


HOLLEY

•McMillion, Maggie, 77, February 28, 2002. Born in Greenbrier, West Virginia on March 16, 1924 she moved to this area 47 years ago where she raised her family. Her husband, Samuel, in 1991, and a son, Noah Daniel McMillion predeceased her. She is survived by her children: Carol (Julio) Suarez of Clarendon, Linda McMillion of Holley, Johnny (Philippa) McMillion of Holley, Roger McMillion of Holley, Rose (Mark) Porter of Holley, Sammy (Leslie) McMillion of Holley, Raymond (Tina) McMillion of Holley and Patricia McMillion of Brockport. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and one great grandson.

A Funeral Service was held March 4 at the First Presbyterian Church in Holley. Memorial remembrances can be made to Hospice of Orleans County or the First Presbyterian Church.


•Reid, Paul W., 86, on March 1, 2002. He was born in the Town of Murray to the late Byron (Ada Caley) Reid. He has resided in this area his entire life and was a life member of the Holley First Baptist Church.

His wife, Ruth, predeceased him in 1981. He is survived by his children; Beverley Schimp of Pennsylvania, Harold (Jayne) Reid of Arizona, Carolyn (Gary) House of Hamlin and Gordon (Karen) Reid of Walworth; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one brother Melvin (Lorraine) Reid of New Hampshire; and one niece.

A Funeral Service was held March 5 at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home. Memorial remembrances can be made to the First Baptist Church of Holley.


SPENCERPORT

•Pettis, Susan M. RN., Thursday, February 28, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Gerald A. Pettis; her children, Michael A. Pettis, Michele (Jim) Fabris, Melanie (Robert) Pettis-Frey, Melissa (Matthew) Short; her step-son, Denis (Judy) Pettis; her brother Peter Shields; several grandchildren, relatives and many dear friends. Susan was a 1957 graduate of the U of R School of Nursing and was employed at Strong Memorial Hospital for 44 years.

A Funeral Mass was said March 4 at St. Christopher's Church, North Chili. Interment, Fairfield Cemetery. Contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice in her memory.


•Manning, Shirley F., Monday, March 4, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband, Breckan Joseph Manning. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Christopher Leibeck of Spencerport; three grandchildren, Wade, Blake and Heather Leibeck; brother Ronald (Patsy) Brethen of Tennessee; her sister, Betty Jean Renfer of Webster; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services and Interment at White Haven Memorial Park will be held at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to The Humane Society at Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Road, Fairport, New York 14450 in her memory.


•Williams, David E., March 2, 2002, 89. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Frederick) White; daughter-in-law, Judy Williams; his sister, Arlene Rowley; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Edith; son, "Corky" and daughter, Mary Ann.

A service celebrating his life was held March 5 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., Hilton. Private interment, Parma Corners Cemetery. Those wishing can make contributions to the Rochester Humane Society in his memory.
