Hilton Excellence in Student Learning Award presented
The Hilton Central School District Excellence in Student Learning Award for January was presented to Village Elementary School student, Geoffrey Hedges, center. He was nominated by his teacher Jessica Kenyon, right, and Village School library/media specialist, Stephanie Harney, third from left, for his love of literature, reading and helping others. Hilton Superintendent of Schools, Dr. John Cooper, second from right, selected Geoffrey for the award. He will receive a $50 Savings Bond, sponsored by the Hilton Federal Credit Union. Village Elementary School Principal Dan Talany is second from left, and Assistant Principal Jennifer Pearce is at left. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Hedges of Hilton. "Geoffrey has a special love of books," his teacher, Ms. Kenyon, said, "... a love of books that we could only dream of all students having." He was co-nominated by Mrs. Harney who added, "He often reads aloud to his classmates and recommends excellent literature for them to read. He has a love of research, and because of his thor-ough and enjoyable way of presenting different topics to students, he meets and exceeds state standards in language arts and technology."
