Team qualifies for award

The Spencerport varsity hockey team qualified for the NYSPHSAA Team Scholar Athlete Award during the Winter 2001-2002 season. In order to qualify, a team must have a team grade point average of 90 percent or above. The hockey team qualified with a grade point average of 91.119 percent. Tom Donnelly and Clayton Sobko are the hockey team's coaches.

Hockey student-athletes who qualified for the award are: Joseph Gionta, Philip Mannix, Colin McCloskey, Christopher Mark, Christopher Farnsworth, Brett Milton, Amanda Ritzel and Zachariah Gonyea.
