GCC posts record enrollment for 2000-2001
Final enrollment figures are in for the 2000-2001 academic year, and they confirm what everyone has been expecting, President Stuart Steiner told the Board of Trustees last week - Genesee saw the largest enrollment in its history for the year ending in August 2001.
Enrollment peaked at 4,809 students last year, 2,225 full-time students and 2,584 part-time students. The college served many thousands of additional students in non-credit continuing education and workforce development programming as well, he said.
Although the majority of students continue to come from the Genesee-Livingston-Orleans-Wyoming region, Genesee Community College students represented 35 New York state counties, twelve other states, and 27 different countries around the globe. Japan topped the list in numbers of international students; 24 Japanese students enrolled at Genesee last year.
